چکیده

The constraints of BF topological gauge theories are used to construct Hamiltonians which are anti-commutators of the BRST and anti-BRST operators. Such Hamiltonians are a signature of Topological Quantum Field Theories (TQFT’s). By construction, both classes of topological field theories share the same phase spaces and constraints. We find that, for 2+1 and 1+1 dimensional space-times foliated as M = Σ× IR, a homomorphism exists between the constraint algebras of our TQFT and those of canonical gravity. The metrics on the two-dimensional hypersurfaces are also obtained. CTP #2175 December 1992 hep-th/yymmnn ⋆ This work is supported in part by funds provided by the U. S. Homology TQFT’s and the Alexander-Reidemeister Invariant of 3-Manifolds via Hopf Algebras and Skein Theory

We develop an explicit skein theoretical algorithm to compute the Alexander polynomial of a 3-manifold from a surgery presentation employing the methods used in the construction of quantum invariants of 3-manifolds. As a prerequisite we establish and prove a rather unexpected equivalence between the topological quantum field theory constructed by Frohman and Nicas using the homology of U(1)repr...

The decomposition of an arbitrary axiomatic topological quantum field theory or TQFT into indecomposable theories is given. In particular, unitary TQFT’s in arbitrary dimensions are shown to decompose into a sum of theories in which the Hilbert space of the sphere is one-dimensional, and indecomposable two-dimensional theories are classified.

Spatial Geometry of Hamiltonian Gauge Theories

The Hamiltonians of SU(2) and SU(3) gauge theories in 3+1 dimensions can be expressed in terms of gauge invariant spatial geometric variables, i.e., metrics, connections and curvature tensors which are simple local functions of the non-Abelian electric field. The transformed Hamiltonians are local. New results from the same procedure applied to the SU(2) gauge theory in 2+1 dimensions are also ...

Finite dimensional integrable Hamiltonian systems associated with DSI equation by Bargmann constraints

The Davey-Stewartson I equation is a typical integrable equation in 2+1 dimensions. Its Lax system being essentially in 1+1 dimensional form has been found through nonlinearization from 2+1 dimensions to 1+1 dimensions. In the present paper, this essentially 1+1 dimensional Lax system is further nonlinearized into 1+0 dimensional Hamiltonian systems by taking the Bargmann constraints. It is sho...

Wave Relations

The wave equation (free boson) problem is studied from the viewpoint of the relations on the symplectic manifolds associated to the boundary induced by solutions. Unexpectedly there is still something to say on this simple, well-studied problem. In particular, boundaries which do not allow for a meaningful Hamiltonian evolution are not problematic from the viewpoint of relations. In the two-dim...
